Why Trees in India?

India's forest are severely being depleted due to industrialization, threatening ecosystems, wildlife, and the livelihoods of millions of people.

The loss of forests has been devastating, with over 14,000 square km cleared (almost twice the size of the GTA) for industrial projects in just 30 years. This destruction has had a significant impact on the environment, wildlife, and people who depend on the forest for their livelihoods.

According to One Tree Planted:

• Each tree planted in India will provide at least $10 USD in food and nutrition each year, with a cumulative value of 5 million dollars garnered over the next 50-60 years.
  
  
• A mature tree can sequester up to 48 pounds of carbon per year. India suffers some of the worst air quality in the world, so planting trees is particularly useful in filtering and improving air quality.
  
  
• Restoring forests will improve the lives of the estimated 275 million Indians.
